Teenage Parties

Nowadays few families are willing to host parties for their teenage children, and sadly many schools are now cancelling formals and school dances.

Alcohol abuse, gatecrashing and violence by a few are spoiling the experiences of the majority.

Many schools produce information for parents advising on guidelines for the successful running of parties for teenagers. Copies can be obtained form the VPC office.

Victoria Police also offers advice. Senior Sargeant Paul Campbell is available to speak to schools and parents about after parties and underage drinking. He can be contacted on (03) 9521 9099 or by email on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Paul?s talk covers recent events in the paper and the negative aspects of running parties, how they got out of hand and the follow on effects. Paul then looks at the benefits of running a properly organised event where you are in control of a party at YOUR house.

This presentation is usually 45 - 60 and covers:

  1. How to run a SAFE PARTY at home
  2. Benefits and legal responsibility of a home party including Party Registration at local police station
  3. Sanctions open to police for adult and minors committing liquor offences
  4. Liquor Control (Reform) Act - what is legal and what is illegal?
  5. Local Council By Laws and police powers under these By Laws.
  6. Questions and Answers.
