For almost 60 years now, VPC has been the voice of non-government school parents in this state. That we are still here today is a testament to the hard work and support of parents, schools and parent associations across Victoria.

Dr Kate Jacobs (B.A., Post.Grad.Dip.Psych., PhD/M.Psych., MAPS, MCEDP) is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist. In 2013 she was awarded the Mollie Holman Doctoral Medal for the best PhD thesis for the year in the Education Faculty at Monash University. 2018 Victorian Youth Parliament Young people aged 16 to 25 across the state will be able to debate the important issues and experience what it’s like to lead parliamentary process. Other Youth Programs to get involved in.
Naplan is moving online. This means moving NAPLAN from the current paper-based tests to computer-based assessments. The transition to NAPLAN online will commence from 2018

Review of minimum standards of senior secondary literacy and numeracy “Should there be an explicit requirement for students to meet minimum standards of literacy and numeracy in order to be awarded the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). “ VCAA will consult widely, including via Metropolitan and regional consultation forums and will provide a report by the end of August 2018.The discussion paper will be posted online and available via this page soon.
Special Provision policy and procedures In 2017, the VCAA completed a review of its focusing specifically on the categories of Specific Learning Disorders and Mental Health conditions and its expansion of the policy to cover Years 7−12.
The 2018 MySchool website updates were published on Wednesday 7 March 2018. Victoria performed especially strongly in Year 3 and 5 as the following graphs showing the mean scores illustrate.
This mirrors Victoria’s strong performance in the 2016 Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) test of reading in Year 6. Victoria was the top performing jurisdiction in Australia. In 2011 80% of Victorian students performed at or above the international benchmark, but by 2016 this had risen to 86%.

Successful Learning: Free online facilitator training
VPC is looking for people interested in taking part in a unique parent-to-parent training program that encourages and supports families to engage in their children’s early learning and literacy. Successful Learning: The Parent Factor is an evidence-based program developed by the Australian Parents Council to provide parents with the confidence and knowledge they need to support their children's education at home.
We are offering free facilitator training to parents, caregivers and school community members interested in helping deliver this valuable support to families. Whether you're an enthusiastic parent, teacher, childcare worker or teacher's aide, we would welcome your involvement.
Training consists of a 3 hours of online study and a 3-hour practical and assessment, after which you will be qualified to deliver sessions as a paid facilitator.
